He was married to Tiani Warden but that marriage also ended in a divorce. In 2010, his fiancee, Steffanie Sampson, gave birth to their son, Luke Sampson Busey.
In 1988, Busey suffered a severe injury in a motorcycle accident and the doctors suspected a permanent brain injury. In 1997, he underwent a surgery to remove a malicious tumor from his sinus cavity. The surgery was successful and he recovered completely.
